Colorado Springs Mayoral and City Council candidates for the 2019 General Municipal Election on April 2, 2019 can begin to circulate nominating petitions on Jan. 2. Elected positions on the April ballot will include Mayor and three at-large City Council seats. Each office is a four-year term.
Beginning Jan. 2, filing documents and nominating petitions can be picked up at the City Clerk’s office in the City Administration Building (30 S. Nevada, Suite 101), Monday through Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Petitions and filing documents must be returned to the City Clerk’s office by 5 p.m. on Jan. 22.
“We encourage anyone interested in running for office to pick up the candidate filing packet starting on January 2nd, visit our website and attend the candidate training for the latest information,” said City of Colorado Springs Clerk Sarah Johnson.
The City Clerk will conduct a candidate training session that includes general election information along with guidelines regarding candidate filing and campaign finance law.
