El Paso County’s annual program for recycling Christmas trees, Treecycle, occurs on Jan. 6 and 7, 2018. Christmas trees are ground into mulch at all locations and the mulch is given away free (please bring your own tools). Six collection sites will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on each weekend.
Treecycle locations include the Baptist Road Trailhead, the Falcon Trailhead, Cottonwood Creek Park, Sky Sox Stadium, Rock Ledge Ranch, and Memorial Park. Trees may also be taken to Rocky Top Resources, 1755 E Las Vegas St. Rocky Top Resources (closed Sundays) will accept trees Dec. 26 to 29, and Jan. 2 to 31, 2018, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
The $5 suggested minimum donation is tax deductible and benefits community youth sports programs through El Pomar Youth Sports.
