As tourists return to the flat lands and snowbirds head south for the winter, Mueller State Park transforms into a winter refuge where you can hike, snowshoe and watch wildlife in solitude.
Hiking goes on year round and once the snow arrives, lots of folks come out for winter sports including snowshoeing, skiing and sledding. Often, you will feel as if you have the forest to yourself.
And though the crowds are gone, Mueller stays open and hosts events in the winter months. They will host a guided First Day Hike on Jan. 1 so you can start 2019 on the right foot. (And your left.)
The park is open every day in December for outdoor activities and the Visitor Center is open every day from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. We hope to see you on the trails.
Admission is $7 per vehicle.
