Moving? There Are Lots of Places to Get Free Packing Boxes

POSTED BY
Linda

moving boxesEveryone knows that it can be hard to find FREE moving boxes, especially certain times of the year (when kids are going off to college, the first weekend of each month and so on). But who wants to pay for them? Not us! Most people hit up grocery stores first. Just know that you had better get there early in the morning, or their boxes will be gone or crushed flat. On the other end of the spectrum, stop by the farmer’s markets about half an hour before closing and they should have lots of empty boxes. Bookstores also have small boxes, and again you need to catch them before they’ve been open long or the boxes have already meandered to the recycle bin. Some liquor stores also put out boxes; others are stingy. Call ahead to find out. Big box stores like Target, have lots of boxes if you catch them at the right time. Or try Costco or Sam’s Cub or the Dollar Stores. Just call and find out when it’s the best time to visit.  Also, post your “BOXES NEEDED” plea on bulletin boards at gyms, yoga studios, at work or at your kid’s school. Or put your pleas on Facebook or send it to your email list. For more ideas, visit Bargain Babe.
