Do you have a child in school? Whether you have a preschooler, elementary, middle or high school student, you likely are thinking about getting gifts for your child’s teachers. It’s a quandary parents face every year. After surveying some teachers, we can tell you what NOT to give: no mugs, and no teacher-themed Christmas ornaments. They’re drowning in them!
Instead, why not pop for a gift certificate to a local salon for a manicure or pedicure? Or maybe a gift card to their favorite coffee house or restaurant? How about a bookstore gift card? If you bake, offer your best homemade treats — they may not have much time to make homemade goodies themselves. You don’t bake? How about a tin of imported butter cookies or a box of specialty chocolates? They can always share them with co-workers if they don’t want to take them home.
And that’s the last point: Don’t forget the auxiliary staff. A box of fresh doughnuts one chilly morning might go down really well in the teachers’ lounge.
