Focus on Enjoying Life

POSTED BY

When it comes time to make New Year’s resolutions, we often focus on self-improvement: losing weight, having more fun, getting organized.
But don’t forget that it’s important to do things that make you happy.
That’s why you should make a resolution this year to have more fun and do more of the things that make you happy. Maybe, that means going to more concerts, playing piano, guitar or ukulele and singing in choruses.
Others may want to see move movies, read more books, take more hikes in beautiful areas, ski more or visit more art museums. Or maybe you just want to spend more time with your family, walking around your neighborhood or playing board games with the kids. We have some suggestions of ways to have more fun for less money all year:

Cut the cable. I canceled my cable service to pay for voice lessons, and I have no regrets. I ended up with a much cheaper streaming service from Comcast since I had to keep Internet and land line phone for my business. Others use a combination of antennas and streaming services and devices. Here’s our complete guide to cutting the cable and not missing it.

Get half-price tickets. Concerts, plays, sporting events and festivals are more fun if you pay only half price. Here’s where to start your search for half-price tickets for entertainment

  • Have a family game night. (This works for adults without kids, too.)
  • Pay for your next vacation with rewards points and miles
  • Get free or cheap ski lift tickets
  • Save on attractions
