Residents are invited to “Renter Rights 101 – Health and Safety”, a free informational session on Tuesday, May 17 at 6 p.m. at Solid Rock CDC, 2520 Arlington Dr. or individuals can attend virtually.
Attendees will learn about rights and responsibilities of renters and landlords for healthy and safe living conditions, including what constitutes a breach of warranty of habitability for unsafe living conditions, who is required to fix what, how to work with your landlord or tenant to address problems and where to get help if you need it. Presenters from Colorado Legal Services and City of Colorado Springs Neighborhood Services will explain which problems are covered by state laws and which problems are addressed by City Code Enforcement.
Colorado Legal Services is a nonprofit organization helping low-income individuals and seniors in Colorado. The workshop will offer general information for tenants and cannot provide specific legal advice. Low-income residents or senior citizens facing a housing issue can contact Colorado Legal Services at (719) 471-0380 for legal assistance.
