City, County Help You Prepare for Winter

POSTED BY
Linda

In anticipation of the 2019-2020 winter season the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management (PPROEM) will promote winter weather awareness the week of Oct. 27 – Nov. 2, to provide El Paso County and Colorado Springs residents with tools and information to prepare their homes, families and vehicles for winter weather conditions.

This is an excellent time for all individuals, families, businesses, schools and media organizations to review their winter weather preparedness plans. It is especially important for all new arrivals to the Colorado Springs area to become familiar with the National Weather Service watch and warning definitions as well as winter safety procedures https://www.weather.gov/safety/winter.

 Personal preparedness:

The City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County will share daily winter safety tips and resources on their Twitter and Facebook feeds on behalf of the PPR-OEM.

The City’s Winter Weather Hub helps residents prepare to weather the winter storms at: www.ColoradoSprings.gov/WinterWeather. This webpage provides information about preparing the home/vehicle for winter, snow plow routes and maps, and what to do before, during and after a winter storm.

Residents may also visit El Paso County’s neighborhood preparedness webpage that includes their winter weather preparedness guide at  https://publicworks.elpasoco.com/office-emergency-management/ready-resilient-neighborhoods/.
