The first Garden Club of America flower show to be held in Colorado Springs in 17 years happens from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at El Pomar’s Penrose House, 1661 Mesa Ave.
Aptly titled “London Calling,” this flower show and entries pay homage to Colorado Springs’ early days when the city was often known as Little London. More than 110 entries are included in clever categories like: The Royal Wave, Heir to the Throne, Tea Time, My flat in London and many others.
Anyone interested in floral design, photography, horticulture, conservation and a taste of local history are invited to attend this FREE event.
There will be an educational conservation exhibit: “Birds, Bugs, Bees and Blossoms.” Matt Mayberry from the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum will present “Growing a Unique Western City: How Colorado Springs Blossomed,” and local photographer Tom Kimmell will present “iPhone Photography.”
