Help the Springs Bloom: Adopt a Flower Bed for the Summer

With cutbacks in funding for such things as flower beds in public medians, the City of Colorado Springs is seeking volunteers to participat in the Flower Bed Adoption Program. The 2012 Springs in Bloom flower bed adoption program seeks individuals, families, clubs and businesses to adopt flower beds located throughout Colorado Springs. The city’s  parks department will provide the flowers FREE of charge to all volunteer adopters. Flower bed adopters will take responsibility for planting and maintaining the beds in public spaces throughout the summer. Looking for a way to class up your next  party? The past Pikes Peak poet laureate, Jim Ciletti, has a mission:  bringing poetry to the people. Get six or more of your poetry-loving friends together, and he’ll come to your house to do a FREE reading! As part of his gig as laureate, he generated lots of readings for groups large and small. Have a book group? A women’s group? A service club looking for a different program? He wants to hit senior centers, community centers, anywhere people gather and want a bit of culture.
